Children Play Call 911, Daddy’s here!

2007: A daycare provider observed my children playing, and noted (below is provider’s actual notes) they were playing “Police, police coming, Daddy’s here!”  and “911, call 911, Daddy’s here!”

Child 2 also said she was upset and had “big feelings” related to her father and that she “keeps them (the “big feelings”) in her pocket. Child 2 was severely speech delayed, and I believe it was due to abuse and trauma she experienced. To this day, Child 2 holds her feelings “in her pocket” and has difficulty expressing herself.

I lost custody to the man who gave my children “big feelings”, and caused such fear that both children thought they should “call 911, Daddy’s here!”. A man with over a dozen allegations of child abuse against him, and both children diagnosed with PTSD. Where is the justice in the Hennepin County Family Justice Center?

(I omitted the rest of the daycare notes to protect the children involved but further observations include more remarks indicating abuse; they are too sensitive to post online.)

About Emily Court

Mom & Kids Need "Just Us" To Fight Injustice in Family Court. I blog to raise awareness about problems existing in the family court system, and use my own story as a personal example of how the systemic failures in family court, and the Guardian ad Litem Program, affect families, in an effort to encourage needed reform. "Emily Court" is a survivor of domestic violence and homelessness working to create a better life for her children, in a stable home free of violence. In her efforts to rebuild her life, she has not only encountered harassment and intimidation from her alleged abuser but faced systematic failures in family court that have empowered her alleged abuser and put her children at risk. Emily is fighting to keep her kids safe, and bring them home. Through writing and blogging, Emily is working to raise awareness about domestic violence, and the urgent need for family court reform. She is currently working on a memoir titled "'Til Prayers Are Answered".
